JAKARTA – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) continues to unravel the catastrophic events that unfolded on New Year’s Eve 2025 in New Orleans, revealing chilling details about the rental truck that plowed into a celebratory crowd, leaving 10 dead and scores injured.

In a grim update provided yesterday, FBI Special Agent Alethea Duncan informed reporters that investigators have unearthed two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the scene. “To date, two IEDs have been recovered and secured,” Duncan confirmed, via the Associated Press.

Adding another layer of horror to the incident, agents also discovered an ISIS flag among the wreckage of the truck. The flag’s presence has spurred the FBI to broaden their investigation, probing potential ties to organized terror.

“An ISIS banner was found inside the vehicle, and the FBI is working to establish any potential links and affiliations between the individual and terror organizations,” the agency stated in an official release.

The driver of the truck has been identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen.

The grim discovery of bomb-making materials and extremist paraphernalia has raised the stakes in this ongoing investigation. Law enforcement has since found additional IED components both within the truck and scattered throughout the French Quarter.

The heartbreaking incident marks one of the deadliest attacks in the recently concluded holiday season. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and help paint a clearer picture of what transpired that fateful night.
