Six Pondok Gede Police Officers Under Investigation for Neglecting Assault Complaint
Bekasi, Indonesia – The Pondok Gede Police, located in Bekasi City, finds itself in the spotlight as six of its members are under investigation for allegedly neglecting an assault complaint. The alleged victims, a local resident and a motorist, reported being attacked by a trio of motorcyclists on December 29, 2024.
The Incident
The ordeal began when the motorist, identified only as FA, was driving along the Hankam Highway in Pondok Melati, Bekasi. Three individuals on a motorcycle approached FA, one of them repeatedly bashing FA’s vehicle window before forcing FA out of the car. FA resisted from inside the car and attempted to resolve the issue at the police station, but the attackers fled. FA proceeded to the nearest checkpoint and was advised to file a report at the Pondok Gede Police Station.
The Alleged Police Neglect
Upon arrival at the Pondok Gede Police Station, FA was allegedly shuttled from one desk to another without his complaint being addressed. FA reported being redirected to different sections, including the Criminal Investigation Unit, SPKT (Public Order and Security), and Laka Lantas (Traffic Police). According to FA, he was given no opportunity to explain or present evidence, including a video of the incident.
Police Response and Investigation
In response to the allegations, the Pondok Gede Police Chief, Commissioner Bambang Sugiharto, confirmed that an internal investigation is underway. Six officers involved in handling FA’s report are from diverse units, including the Post Pengamanan Natal dan Tahun Baru (Christmas and New Year Security Unit), SPK (Public Security Unit), Reskrim (Criminal Investigation Unit), and Laka Lantas.
Bambang stated, "We are thoroughly examining the situation. If our investigation confirms any misconduct or violation of police protocols by our officers, appropriate disciplinary sanctions will be imposed according to the PP no. 2/2003 regulation on Polri member discipline."
