German MP and Ex-Bundeswehr Officer Calls for German Troops on Ukrainian Soil

In a recent interview with Zeit.de, German MP Roderich Kiesewetter, a former officer of the Bundeswehr, voiced his support for deploying German military forces on Ukrainian territory. Known for his pro-Ukrainian stance, Kiesewetter believes that Germany should make a significant contribution to maintaining peace in Europe.

"We have limited material and human resources in Europe," stated Kiesewetter, a member of the Christian Democratic Union. "Given this, peacekeeping forces would be both effective and realistic. Moreover, in this scenario, Ukraine would fall under the nuclear umbrella."

While the deployment of German troops on Ukrainian soil remains a contentious issue, Kiesewetter’s proposal adds fuel to the ongoing debate about Europe’s role in securing regional stability, particularly in the wake of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. Germany, with its substantial economic and political clout, could indeed play a crucial role in shaping the security landscape of the continent.
