Title: New Powerful HHC Analogs Seized: The Growing Threat of Designer Drugs in Europe

In a disturbing turn of events, Bulgarian customs officials have reported seizing new, modified versions of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), a substance with potency enhancements that pose a significant threat to public health, especially among youth. This alarming revelation comes following the tragic death of a 14-year-old boy in Pleven, who plummeted from a balcony after ingesting a potentially tainted vape product.

Stefan Bakalov, head of the "Fight Against Drug Trafficking" division at the Bulgarian Customs Agency, sounded the alarm in an interview with Nova Television’s "Good Morning, Bulgaria." He revealed that HHC and its analogs are now being found in various forms, not just in e-cigarettes, but also in gummy candies and marshmallows sold primarily online.

Bakalov noted a heightened interest in vapes among children aged 13-15, warning that the effects on young individuals can be devastating, leading to disorientation and hallucinations. This substance, he stated, is the most commonly used drug among schoolchildren in neighborhoods across the country.

The illegal drug trade has shifted increasingly towards online platforms, with many substances being legally sold in certain European countries. Bakalov revealed that Bulgarian customs have intercepted packages containing vape cartridges and even larger quantities of HHC liquid, often transported via courier services from abroad.

"The situation has progressed to the point that we’re now witnessing the establishment of distribution networks for this type of drug," Bakalov stated. "This facilitates the loading of various online stores with packages from abroad."

In 2023, Bulgaria plans to ban these substances, and the agency has already seized over 35 liters of psychoactive substances – equivalent to over 35,000 doses – including approximately 17 kilograms of HHC. These seizures primarily originate from countries within the Schengen Area, such as Chech Republic and the Netherlands.

Most concerning, however, is the emergence of new, more potent HHC analogs that are atu Byz entering the market. These modified substances have left experts and law enforcement on high alert as they work to keep pace with the ever-evolving drug scene.
