Isobella Perrie Sullivan, a 25-year-old law student from Abbeylands Park, Clane, Co Kildare, appeared at Monaghan District Court on Friday following the interception of a bomb in a car near the border with the North. According to court records, she had previously been granted bail after facing a charge of possession of explosives, which stems from a vehicle stop conducted in July on the N2 at Aclint, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.
Court Appearance and Ongoing Legal Proceedings in Monaghan
Perrie Sullivan stood when her case was called during a brief hearing at Monaghan District Court on Friday. The matter was subsequently adjourned until 28 September. According to a garda officer who spoke during the proceedings, the adjournment was requested because the DPP is waiting for updates on the case. At a previous hearing, her defence solicitor stated that she had been asked to take a bag to the north without knowing its contents, adding that she had been manipulated.
Vehicle Search and Explosive Discovery on the N2
The charges against Perrie Sullivan follow a car being stopped on the N2 at Aclint, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, in July. During a search of the vehicle, a bag was discovered in the rear seat containing an amount of Semtex military grade explosive and a detonator. When she was granted bail in court previously, conditions were imposed that included that she not have any contact with anyone in Saoradh or the New IRA.
Co-Accused Remanded in Custody in Dublin
Simon O’Donovan, a 44-year-old employee at a Dublin museum, also faces charges in connection with the intercepted bomb. He is charged with possession of an explosive substance at St Laurence’s Road in Chapelizod in the city on Wednesday 22 July. Unlike his co-accused, O’Donovan has been remanded in custody until 5 October. Depending on the ongoing updates awaited by the DPP, both defendants could face further legal developments when their respective adjourned dates arrive.
