Trail-running footwear and climbing gear intersect as Norda and Black Diamond launch their first collection of a new long-term partnership, according to Footwear News. The collaboration marks the first time Black Diamond, an outdoor equipment specialist based in Utah, has partnered with another brand.
The Norda 000 Debut and Stream Flow Foam
At the center of the apparel and gear rollout is the Norda 000, a trail-running shoe that merges elements from the brand’s existing 001 and 002 models. According to Footwear News, the hybrid design pairs the upper of the 002 with the sole unit of the 001 in response to consumer demand for a flagship shoe featuring a padded collar. The model launches in three colorways: “Kunzite,” “Moonstone,” and “Obsidian.”
Footwear News reports that the shoe incorporates an upgrade to the underfoot experience via a new Vibram foam compound named Stream Flow. This midsole material is built to be 15 percent more resilient and lighter than its predecessor.

“We’re both premium brands that make products with a marriage of beautiful design and superior engineering,” Fiske told Footwear News. “I always thought if Black Diamond was ever to make a trail running shoe or mountain running shoe, it would look like what Norda makes.”
Beyond footwear, the collection features ultra-premium versions of existing Black Diamond equipment, including trekking poles and a trail-running backpack constructed from Challenge Sailcloth UltraWeave 100D. According to Footwear News, this waterproof material is 15 times stronger than steel and aligns with the Dyneema uppers utilized by Norda. The lifestyle portion of the release includes pre-faded, made-in-USA T-shirts with archival Black Diamond graphics, distressed dual-branded six-panel hats, and a pink version of the company’s lightest functional carabiner featuring an external logo for the first time in firm history.
Athlete Connection and Future Availability
Ultra-marathoner Joe Grant, sponsored by both Norda and Black Diamond, served as the bridge between the two companies. According to Footwear News, Grant introduced the footwear to his equipment sponsor and wore the shoes during Black Diamond photo shoots prior to the start of formal partnership discussions in August 2025.
“Black Diamond is a brand of trust,” Norda co-founder Nick Martire told Footwear News. “Some of the best climbers and extreme athletes on earth are entrusting Black Diamond with their lives in their pursuits.”
Martire refers to the initial release as “Collection Zero,” noting that future offerings will see a wider scope of distribution. The initial Black Diamond x Norda collection is available now through the brands’ respective websites and hits select Black Diamond locations and specialty stores on August 31, according to Footwear News.
