Headline: Abandoned Dog of Missing Konaare Boy Finds New Home Hope While Search Continues

Article:

The search for 13-year-old Nicholas, who went missing from Konaare, persists, but a glimmer of hope has emerged as his dog finds a new temporary home. The emaciated canine appeared in the village around 7:30 PM last Sunday, near Nicholas’ house, sparking a social media campaign to find it a new home.

"Tragedy struck with Nicholas’ disappearance, and we all hope he’s found soon," Dani Atanasova wrote on Facebook. "But I can’t ignore the poor state of his dog. It won’t survive if left here. Let’s find it a new home."

The dog was found stressed and disoriented. Attempts were made to track Nicholas’ trail, but none have been successful so far. The dog was wearing a collar with a leash when found and led rescuers to an abandoned house and a nearby dam where it often played with Nicholas. The search lasted for about two hours.

Meanwhile, the search for Nicholas, who has Down syndrome, continues. He went missing on December 17. A helicopter was deployed yesterday to aid the search, which is ongoing with hundreds of police officers, gendarmes, forest rangers, and volunteers using vehicles and drones.

While the focus remains on finding Nicholas, the abandoned dog has found temporary shelter and is being cared for by a local rescue group. After a vet check-up and proper treatment, the dog will be ready for adoption. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, there’s hope that Nicholas will be found soon, and that his dog will find a loving new home.
