Tucumán‘s Weekend Vaccination Drive: Over 200 Doses Administered, Dengue Vaccine in High Demand

TUCUMÁN, Argentina — The doors of the Family Vaccination Center on Avenida Mate de Luna al 1900 swung open on Saturday, offering a lifeline to Tucuman residents who couldn’t make it during the week. More than 200 people turned out, with the dengue vaccine being the most sought-after.
Minister of Health Dr. Luis Medina Ruiz authorized the center’s opening as part of the province‘s comprehensive dengue management plan, launched by Governor Osvaldo Jaldo. The center provided a range of vaccines, with the dengue vaccine topping the list.
"Despite it being the first weekend of the year, we’ve seen a great turnout," said Sandra Ibañez, coordinator of Saturday’s vaccination drive. "We’ve administered 182 doses of the dengue vaccine, along with other routine and COVID-19 vaccines, totaling 208 doses."
Ibañez noted that many people had already received their second doses, and parents brought their children for vaccinations. She reminded residents that the second dose of the dengue vaccine can be administered three months after the first.
