Trivandrum: ADGP Ajitkumar Temporarily Saved from Serious Charges, Gets DGPs Post

Ajithkumar, ADGP, has temporarily evaded serious charges, thanks to a vigilance report that has provided him respite. With the assurance of his promotion to the post of DGP, Ajithkumar appears to be regaining his former glory. The promoters’ meeting witnessed CPM ministers raising questions about the appointment, given the ongoing accusations. However, the Chief Minister’s stance was that since there are no cases against Ajithkumar, the promotion could not be denied.

Here are the accusations and vigilance’s findings against Ajithkumar:

1. Luxury Villa Construction near Kadakavur Palace

   • Accusation: Ajithkumar is constructing a three-story luxury villa with a cost of crores near the Kadakavur Palace.
   • Vigilance Findings: The construction has been reported to the government and is included in the property records. The funds for construction were obtained through a bank loan.

2. Flat Sale in Kuravan dictate

   • Accusation: Ajithkumar bought a flat in Kuravan dictate in 2009 for 37 lakhs and completed construction in 2013. The property was registered under his name only in 2016, and was sold for 65 lakhs within 15 days of registration.
   • Vigilance Findings: Ajithkumar took a loan to buy the flat. The vigilance report does not directly accuse him of money laundering, but the quick sale has raised suspicions.

   • Accusation: Ajithkumar allegedly aided smugglers with the help of some customs officials, including former Malappuram SP Sujith Das. Das used his office to facilitate the smuggling of timber.
   • Vigilance Findings: More seizures of smuggled gold were made during Sujith Das’s tenure. Although some customs officials were named as accused in the smuggling case, no concrete evidence was found linking Ajithkumar to the incident.
