Headline: Indonesian MP Acknowledges CSR Fund Flow to All Komisi XI DPR RI Members; KPK Investigates Misuse

Article:

In a surprising turn of events, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Satori, has publicly acknowledged that corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds allocated by Bank Indonesia (BI) are distributed among all members of Komisi XI DPR RI. This revelation comes amidst ongoing investigations by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) into alleged corruption involving these CSR funds.

Satori made these claims after being questioned as a witness by the KPK on Friday, December 27, 2024. Another DPR RI member, Heri Gunawan, was also examined as a witness on the same day. Following his examination, Satori confirmed that the CSR funds from BI have indeed flowed into a certain foundation, which is then used for programs in the electoral districts of the respective legislators.

"[The programs] include socialization activities in electoral districts. All members of Komisi XI can participate in these programs," Satori clarified, emphasizing that the funds were not misused.

However, Satori stressed that no bribery was involved in this matter and pledged to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigations.

KPK, although not yet explicitly outlining the case, has implied that certain raids conducted at BI and Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) offices are connected to this investigation. Asep Guntur Rahayu, the Director of Investigations at KPK, previously revealed that while CSR funds are not inherently problematic, the issue arises when they are not used according to their designated purpose.

" Problematically, when CSR funds are not utilized as intended, for instance, if only half of the allocated funds are used, the unutilized half becomes a concern, especially if it’s used for personal gain," Asep explained in September 2024.

The KPK is currently investigating whether the unutilized CSR funds were indeed misappropriated for private use. This developing case highlights the importance of oversight and transparency in managing funds designated for social welfare and community development.
