Breaking: Third Suspect Arrested in Guerrero Magistrate Edmundo Román Pinzón’s Murder Case
In a significant development in the investigation of the assassination of former Guerrero Tribunal Superior de Justicia President Edmundo Román Pinzón, the Secretary of Security and Civil Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, confirmed the detention of a third suspect. The arrest was a collaborative effort involving multiple Mexican security agencies.
García Harfuch announced the arrest via his Twitter account, stating, "Personnel from @SSPCMexico, along with the Security Cabinet, @SEDENAmx, @SEMAR_mx, @FGRMexico, and @GNMEXICO, arrested an individual linked to the homicide of magistrate Edmundo Román Pinzón… The @FGEGuerrero continues investigations to obtain the corresponding arrest warrant."
Previously, on December 30, Diana "N" and Luis Gerardo "N" were apprehended and later linked to the crime. They remain in custody at the Tuxpan Social Rehabilitation Center in Iguala, Guerrero.
Magistrate Román Pinzón was brutally gunned down on December 11, 2024, as he exited his office in Acapulco’sFraccionamiento Las Playas. His murder sent shockwaves through Guerrero’s judicial system and underscored the state’s ongoing security challenges.
