Apple plans to unveil its first touchscreen MacBook and a new iPad mini on or around Oct. 27, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources. The upcoming hardware releases feature organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and lighter builds, alongside a separate smart home product rollout scheduled for Oct. 13.
Touchscreen MacBook and OLED iPad Mini Coming Oct. 27
The upcoming touchscreen MacBooks will weigh less than current models, incorporate OLED screens for sharper visuals, and feature the Dynamic Island interface used on iPhones, according to Bloomberg. Apple also plans to introduce a new iPad mini equipped with an OLED screen, revamped speakers, and a videoconferencing camera.
Professional users will see updates as well. Apple intends to release versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac powered by M6 chips, tailored specifically for photo editing, music production, and video production. An Apple spokesperson declined Bloomberg’s invitation to comment on the claims.

The Oct. 27 product launch event will feature an online video presentation combined with in-person attendance by the press. This format follows an earlier showcase planned for mid-October focused on home automation hardware.
Smart Home Hub and Security Camera Lineup Launching Oct. 13
The Oct. 13 launch also includes the first update to the HomePod mini since its introduction in 2020, alongside Apple’s first new TV set-top box since 2022, Bloomberg reported. Additional hardware slated for the mid-October event includes indoor security cameras, outdoor security cameras, floodlight cameras, doorbells, thermostats, and smart deadbolt locks developed alongside LG Electronics. This rollout represents an official reboot of Apple’s HomeKit platform, which launched in 2014.
Corporate Restructuring Under New Leadership
The rapid succession of product launches follows organizational changes within the company. Bloomberg News reported Sept. 29 that Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, wants a leaner company that is quicker at developing products.
