U.S. President Biden to Award Presidential Medal of Freedom to 19 Esteemed Recipients

Washington – U.S. President Joe Biden will bestow the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, upon 19 distinguished individuals on Saturday. According to an announcement from the White House, recipients hail from diverse sectors including politics, sports, fashion, and entertainment.

The Medal of Freedom recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

A glance at the remarkable lineup of awardees reveals a mix of iconic figures who have left an indelible mark on American society and global affairs:

  1. Maya Angelou, a renowned poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist, will be honored posthumously. Her seminal work, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," is a pivotal piece in American literature.

  2. Sylvester Stallone, a Hollywood icon, will receive the award for his contributions to entertainment. Known for his iconic role as Rocky Balboa, Stallone has inspired generations with his stories of perseverance and triumph.
