According to driver George Tickner, who recorded the encounter, the bear emerged from roadside woods around 6 a.m. Thursday, stopped to look both ways, and darted across the asphalt.

George Tickner was driving to work when the animal appeared near residential neighborhoods. “I’ve never seen a black bear in person. It was unreal and I couldn’t believe it,” Tickner said according to local reporting. “I thought it was kind of crazy that he was so close to where I live and where other families live.” Tickner added that he is not overly worried about the encounter because the animals do not appear overly dangerous, though he expressed curiosity about whether more sightings might occur.
