Heavily Flawed Early Morning Fire Erupts in Levanger

LEVANGER, Norway — A severe fire engulfed a residential house in Levanger early Thursday morning, with operations leader Øystein Volden of the Trøndelag Police District describing it as "intense" and burning in both the basement and other floors.

Neighbors raised the alarm around 08:20, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The fire department battled the blaze with full force, working both inside and outside the house. luckily, all inhabitants had evacuated before emergency services arrived, with no reported injuries.

"Everyone is accounted for, and no one is hurt," confirmed incident commander Per Henrik Bykvist.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with an elderly Christmas light display near the entrance identified as a potential origin. As the fire spreads, authorities fear that the house will be a total loss.

"We have to take off the roof to fully extinguish the fire. The house may be a complete loss," said Volden. Mercifully, approximately 190 animals housed in a nearby barn were successfully rescued.

Firefighters tackled the blaze despite challenging weather conditions, initially facing a gust warning towards nearby structures. However, conditions improved around 09:15 when the wind shifted away from the garden, reducing the risk of further spread.

As of 11:00, police and ambulances left the scene, leaving fire services for additional monitoring and potential reignition. Authorities will continue to investigate this incident.
