Bloc Party Detail “Lagoon Blue” and Seventh Album ‘Anatomy Of A Brief Romance’
The newly released track “Lagoon Blue” serves as the latest preview of the London band’s upcoming seventh studio album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, scheduled for release on September 11 via Contagious Music, as reported by sources. The track follows previously shared singles including “Coming On Strong,” “Love Bombs,” “Now We Can’t Be Friends,” and “Pigwig.” According to frontman Kele Okereke in a press release, “Lagoon Blue” was the very first song written for the record during a period when he felt “blissfully in the first throes of a new love” that later dissolved.
“The song is about feeling like love had come back into my life, when I didn’t think that was going to be possible,” Okereke said via press materials. “So it was a really joyous song for me. But I felt I couldn’t sing it every night, knowing what I know now. The only way to make it work was to tell the whole story of our relationship, where ‘Lagoon Blue’ is only a beat of it, not the whole story.”
Expanded UK Record Store Tour Dates and International Live Schedule
The 14-song LP is structured like a memoir by Okereke and follows the band’s 2022 release Alpha Games.

Beyond these intimate performances, the band’s live itinerary features a major UK and European co-headline tour alongside Interpol later this year, following recent support slots for Muse at select North American concerts.
Collaborating with Trevor Horn on “Disco Heartbreak”
Speaking to the publication last spring, Okereke outlined the early creative vision for the record under the working umbrella of “disco heartbreak.”
“The term that we were bandying around at the start was ‘disco heartbreak’,” Okereke told NME. “That was the umbrella, but it’s kind of morphed into something else. We’re only six songs in, so it could go completely left. We’ll see.” Describing his experience working alongside Horn, Okereke noted: “He’s made some of my favourite records of all time, so it’s quite interesting to hear what he has to say. He’s been making records for most of his life, for over 50 years, so he seems to know all the tricks.”
The upcoming album release caps off a notable period of recognition for the group, which includes accepting the Outstanding Song Collection Award at the Ivor Novellos last year alongside artists like U2 and Brandon Flowers.
