The explosion on December 7 at a portico flat in Den Haag has left six people dead and many more injured. Among the affected businesses was Aaliyah’s Styling, a bridal shop located at Tarwekamp. The owner of the shop, speaking anonymously to De Telegraaf, reveals her struggles in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The owner, who was not present in Den Haag during the explosion, has been cooperating fully with the police investigation. She confesses that she thinks "every second of the day" about the victims and their families. Despite her desire to express her condolences and support, she finds herself constrained by the ongoing investigation and the necessity to preserve evidence.
The businessman, represented by her lawyer Richard Korver, has several unanswered questions about the sequence of events leading up to the devastating blast. Notably, she wonders why two of the four suspects arrested two weeks prior to the explosion were later released, despite being found in possession of materials possibly intended for an attack, such as jerrycans and heavy fireworks.
"’That could have prevented a lot of misery,’" the woman laments. She also expresses her sympathy for the victims’ families and regrets her inability to comfort them in person due to security concerns.
In her interview with De Telegraaf, the shop owner vents her frustration with the misleading information circulating about her and her family. She appeals to the public to stick to the facts and refrain from spreading harmful rumors.
Previously, the police revealed that the bridal shop may have been the target of the explosion. The exact cause of the fierce blast remains unclear. Just yesterday, it was disclosed that one of the detained suspects is the ex-boyfriend of the bridal shop’s owner. Although the initial suspicion pointed towards a criminal motive, the police now suspicions that the relationship between the victim and the suspect may have played a role in the tragic event.
