A devastating hit-and-run incident occurred on the Junieh Highway heading north, involving a car carrying a family of three. The driver, a local man accompanied by his wife and four-year-old son, was struck from behind by a van that fled the scene.
Details of the incident reveal that the van, carrying more than ten passengers, most wearing vests bearing the logo of a construction and contracting company, rammed into the family’s car. The van driver attempted to escape, but the family’s driver pursued him, aiming to stop him and request a traffic expert to determine liability. However, the van driver refused to stop and tried to flee. After several attempts, the family’s driver, along with some passengers, got out of their car and confronted the van driver, who then proceeded to assault the father in front of his wife and child.
The assaulted father was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities were alerted, and the van’s description was circulated. It was later intercepted and stopped at the Madfoun checkpoint. According to Lebanon Debate, the detainees, including the van driver (A.A.), along with the vehicle, were handed over to the Junieh military post for investigation under the guidance of the relevant judicial authority.
