Sofia Municipality Won’t Pay Firm for Poor Snow Clearance in Vitocha Nature Park
The Sofia Municipality has announced it will not pay the company responsible for snow clearance in Vitocha Nature Park on December 26, 2024, due to substandard work, as disclosed by the municipality’s press center.
Municipality Mayor Vasil Terziev took to Facebook on December 29, stating that changes have been initiated in the snow clearance methods leading to the park. "We will organize meetings with various state institutions regarding the maintenance of the road infrastructure leading to Vitocha Nature Park," Terziev wrote.
Currently, public transport in the capital is operating smoothly under winter conditions, the municipality’s press center confirmed. Overnight treatments using anti-icing mixtures were carried out in the areas of "Viaduct", "Student", "Vitosha", "Ovcha Kupel", "Lulin", "Kremikovtsi", and "Pancharevo".
A total of 109 snow-clearing machines are currently in operation, treating streets and boulevards used by public transport. Anti-icing mixtures have been sprayed along the Southern Ring Road and municipal roads.
In Vitocha Nature Park, two main paths have been de-iced: from the "Dragalevtsi" district to the "Aleko" hut and from the "Boyana" district to the "Zlatni Mostove" locality. These activities are being monitored by the Sofia Inspectorate.
Teams from "Emergency Assistance and Prevention" are conducting regular patrols. The municipality urges drivers to use vehicles equipped appropriately for winter conditions.
