Title: Bulgaria‘s Weather Outlook: SunnyStart, Chilly End to Second Week
The final day of this week will bring sunny skies with intermittent cloud cover over Northern Bulgaria in the late afternoon. Night temperatures will dip to around -7 to -8°C in the western basins, with highs ranging from 3 to 8-9°C during the day.
The first week of January will be sunny, transitioning to variable cloud cover mid-week. By St. Jordan’s Day and St. Ivan’s Day, temperatures will rise to between 8 to 13°C, with the mercury potentially hitting 15°C in the Danube plain by the middle of the period.
As the week draws to a close, a dynamic weather situation is expected due to the development of a cyclone in the Mediterranean Sea. Early forecasts suggest a cooling trend with rainfall and snow expected.
Looking ahead to 2025, climate scientist Christo Popov shares his insights in a studio discussion on "Wake Up": "This year will resemble 2024 in terms of temperatures. Last year had many months that were 1-2°C warmer than usual. However, we also had months like November that were around 1°C cooler than normal. I expect another hot summer, but the exact magnitude will depend on how mild the spring is. Last year’s cold spring made the summer feel slightly warmer."
