Tragic Highway Accident: One Critically Injured, E18 Closed
A serious traffic accident occurred today at 11:00 AM in the Asker tunnel, located on the E18 highway between Oslo and the Swedish border. One person in the vehicle has been airlifted to Ullevål Hospital in critical condition, confirmed Operations Leader Lisbeth Mjøsund of the Øst Police District.
The accident, which involved a single vehicle, took place inside the tunnel. The vehicle collided with the tunnel walls multiple times at high speed, according to police reports. Emergency services are currently at the scene, with a cleanup operation underway as of 12:30 PM.
The E18 highway in the direction of Ørje and Sweden is closed, with traffic being diverted via the national road RV128.
