OSLO: Nationaltheatret and Majorstuen T-Stations to Close on First Saturday; More Closures Expected by 2025

Mark your calendars, Oslo residents. This coming Saturday, both Nationaltheatret and Majorstuen T-stations will be closed for operations, as reported by Aftenposten. Here’s what you need to know:

Saturday Closures:

  • Nationaltheatret: Closed all day.
  • Majorstuen: Closed all day.

In addition to these station closures, several T-bane lines in western Oslo will switch to bus services due to track maintenance:

  • Replacement Bus Services:
    • Majorstuen to Borgen
    • Majorstuen to Frognerseteren
    • Majorstuen to Nydalen
    • Majorstuen to Sognsvann

To accommodate the rerouting, trams between the city center and Majorstuen will have increased frequency.

Reason Behind Closures:
The closures are part of Sporveien‘s ongoing modernization project. The company is relocating its technical facilities in the ‘Sangerhallen’ at Majorstuen to the ‘Holmenkollhallen’ further uphill.

What’s in Store for 2025?
More closures are expected in the coming years. Aftenposten reports that additional T-bane stations and lines may be affected, so stay tuned for updates.

We recommend planning your Saturday transportation accordingly and checking the latest schedules before you set off. Safe travels!
