Auckland police are seeking the public’s help to identify two men following a mass brawl on Karangahape Road and subsequent assaults that left multiple people injured on December 28th. The initial disorder involved approximately 50 people.

Emergency services responded to reports of fighting on Karangahape Road around 3:40 am. Roughly 35 minutes later, three separate assaults occurred in the surrounding area. A 33-year-old man suffered serious head injuries outside Crown Bar on Queen Street at 4:15 am. Fifteen minutes after that, a 27-year-old man was also seriously injured in an assault on Cobden Street, near Karangahape Road, and was taken to Auckland City Hospital in critical condition.
A third assault occurred at 5:00 am at a Mobil Service Station on the corner of Karangahape and Ponsonby roads, resulting in serious head injuries for a 46-year-old man. A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident and has appeared in the Auckland District Court charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greaves stated that the investigation into the three assaults is ongoing. “One person has been arrested, however we would like help identifying the others pictured in these images,” he said. Police have released images of two men they wish to speak with.
One of the men sought by police was wearing black pants, a blue and black hunting and fishing jacket, and a black cap with white writing. The second man was wearing a white shirt and a beige hat.
