In the spirit of the holidays, local businesses in Larvik have come together to ensure that no one has to spend Christmas Eve alone. The initiative is led by Yeser, the owner of Fuudies Foodcourt, who shares a local space with the popular bar, Hansemann. Yeser, having experienced the loneliness of such a high holiday himself in the past, took it upon himself to create a meaningful event for the community.

"Many reasons exist for people to be alone on Christmas Eve. A few years back, I isolated myself from family and friends. No one should feel such loneliness on this day. I want to give back to the community and ensure others don’t experience what I went through," Yeser told Østlands-Posten.

Joining forces with Hansemann and Meny Gloppe, they are hosting a low-barrier Christmas celebration on December 24th, with the doors opening at 4 PM and closing at 9 PM. The event is free, and all are welcome.

Anders Nygaard Larsen, the daily manager of Hansemann, expressed his enthusiasm about the event, "Christmas can be tough for many. It’s wonderful if we can make this day special for someone."

The venue will be adorned with Christmas trees and lights, setting the tone for the season. Even Larsen, who usually spends Christmas with his family, hopes this event can bring the same positive experience to others.

While this is the first time they’re organizing such an event, they hope it will become an annual tradition if it’s well-received. Larsen and Yeser have enlisted the help of volunteers, including friends, to ensure a smooth event. The volunteers will be on hand for conversation, serving food, cleaning up, and making sure the kids have some sweets.

The evening’s entertainment includes Christmas music and movies playing on the big screen. Additionally, the Grill master’s special Christmas menu will be served, with any leftovers going to the Salvation Army. The event is alcohol-free, and anyone who wants to donate unused gifts can do so, with the proceeds going to charity.

"Anyone who doesn’t have anyone to celebrate with or needs a free Christmas dinner is more than welcome to join us. We hope Father Christmas will also drop by," Larsen added. The organizer estimates they can accommodate all interested attendees, ensuring no one leaves hungry.

This community event follows a similar tradition held at Farris Bad from 2010 to 2021, which saw up to 140 guests and volunteers gather in the Kildesalen hall. Last year, Hungry Heart took up the mantle, and now Larsen and Yeser are carrying on the tradition.

In the heart of the season of giving, these local businesses deliver a true Christmas miracle, ensuring that no one in Larvik has to celebrate the holidays alone.
