Breaking: 37-Year-Old Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minors and Child Pornography Distribution

A 37-year-old man from Bodegraven has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing minors and distributing child pornography. The alleged crimes may have taken place over several years, as revealed during a pre-trial hearing at the District Court in The Hague. The man has been in custody since last summer.

The investigation, led by the National Team for Combatting Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism, began in the summer of 2024 when the man was found sharing child pornographic material on encrypted chat apps. His arrest followed in late July 2024, and since then, he has been held in preventive detention.

Prosecutors have uncovered evidence that the man physically abused at least three minors and distributed child pornography via secure communication channels. It remains unclear whether the victims were abused by the suspect himself.

The suspect is believed to have targeted potential victims at a climbing club in Dordrecht’s sport center Pentagon, where he worked as a trainer from 2003 to 2019. Additionally, he was involved with the Zuidhovenkerk in Dordrecht from 2003 to 2018 and the Ichthuskerk in Bodegraven until July 2024, potentially exposing him to further opportunities to come into contact with minors.

Police are actively seeking witnesses and any other potential victims. The exact number of victims remains unknown at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.

The man is expected to stand trial on charges of sexual abuse of minors and distribution of child pornography.
