Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks teases Lucy story climax

Lucy Parkinson Storyline Climaxes on Coronation Street

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks has revealed that fans can expect quite a big climax to Lucy Parkinson’s dark story in the near future, Digital Spy reported. Earlier this year, a disturbing plot development was broadcast, showing that the troubled young girl Lucy caused the death of her mother Rachel.

Lucy has been living with the Metcalfe family in recent months. She also has a connection to the Shuttleworth clan as the long-lost granddaughter of Christina Boyd. Speaking at a Corrie press event, Brooks promised more surprises ahead as the story develops.

Unpredictable Dynamics Between Sally and Christina

The Lucy story is ongoing and it does reach quite a big climax in the near future, Brooks teased. But this is the tip of the iceberg for this storyline, as it does get quite big. There’s definitely more twists and turns to come.

Show decision-makers are eager to investigate Christina and the Shuttleworths through additional avenues as well, integrating George’s sister Glenda more deeply into the family unit. I love Christina and George, Brooks continued. That relationship between the Shuttleworths is just dynamite so we’ll definitely see more of that.

Social Services Investigation Clears Sally Metcalfe

During the previous month, Sally and Tim had to cope with Lucy being temporarily taken away from their custody after she leveled multiple grave claims against Sally. Next week, tensions between Sally and Christina reach boiling point during a special episode focusing on Debbie’s Angels. Christina worries that Sally has handled Lucy incorrectly and is bitter about being excluded from assisting the youth personally.

Later, Sally will learn that she’s been cleared of any wrongdoing following the social services investigation. Following this, Lucy is permitted to go back and live with the Metcalfes once again, though Sally feels nervous about the prospect of living with her once more.

Brooks Praises Unpredictable Dynamic Between Sally and Christina

Brooks concluded: The Lucy story ties Sally and Christina together. What I love about that friendship and that dynamic is that I’m never quite sure where it’s going to land – whether it’s going to be exploding or whether they’re going to be hugging and telling each other how wonderful they are! I love that unpredictability about it.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
