Earthquake of Magnitude 3.0Hits Southwest Bulgaria
A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck Southeast Bulgaria on Friday, January 3rd, close to the border with Greece. The National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy, and Geography of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAN), the European Seismological Centre, and seismological institutes in Thessaloniki, Belgrade, and Tirana all registered the tremor.
The epicenter was located 96 kilometers north of Thessaloniki and 16 kilometers northwest of Petrich. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
No immediate reports of damage or injuries were issued. The earthquake was felt lightly in the affected region, with no significant impact expected.
