Breaking: Sinaloa Security Forces Disarm Violent Criminal Cell, Detain Four
In a daring operation that unfolded Wednesday afternoon in the upscale Las Quintas neighborhood of Culiacán, Sinaloa, state security forces have neutralized a robust criminal cell and seized an arsenal of high-powered weapons.
Omar García Harfuch, the head of the Sinaloa State Secretary of Public Security, announced the operation’s success on his social media platforms. "Today in Culiacán, we dismantled a cell behind numerous acts of violence. Four individuals were apprehended, and we recovered high-caliber firearms, grenades, tactical gear, armored vehicles, and ammunition."
The intense operation began around 1:35 PM local time, with residents reporting a heavy military and federal agent presence along the streets of Estado de Veracruz and Estado de Puebla. Eyewitnesses described agents rushing from place to place, the sound of gunshots, and several official vehicles blocking traffic.
Tragically, one of the Secretary’s own detectives sustained injuries during the operation but is now stable and expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities have confirmed the detainees are considered highly dangerous but have yet to reveal their identities. The captured weapons and equipment will aid investigators in pursuing further leads and dismantling other criminal networks in the region.
This breakthrough follows an ongoing effort by Sinaloa’s law enforcement agencies to address the state’s violent criminal activities. The operation signals a commitment to protecting residents and visitors alike during the holiday season and beyond.
