Danantara Enhances Support for Village Cooperatives in Southeast Asia

by Rachel Morgan News Editor

Danantara Indonesia is enhancing collaboration among state-owned enterprises to expand services at the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP), aligning with the government’s initiative to establish them as integrated rural service hubs, according to Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria.

KDKMPs Aim to Streamline Rural Services

The Red and White Village Cooperatives, or KDKMP, are designed to function as both economic growth engines and centralized service centers for rural communities. Through a national network, they will distribute essential commodities such as three-kilogram liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, SPHP rice, MinyaKita cooking oil, and subsidized fertilizers, according to Oskaria’s statement.

In addition to goods distribution, KDKMPs will offer financial services like Mekaar microfinance, BRILink banking transactions, and logistics via Pos Indonesia. This model seeks to consolidate banking, logistics, and basic necessities into a single rural ecosystem, as outlined in the statement.

State-Owned Enterprise Coordination Underway

Oskaria met with leaders from Pertamina Patra Niaga, Pupuk Indonesia, PTPN IV, RNI (ID FOOD), Bulog, and Agrinas Palma to strengthen inter-enterprise coordination. The goal is to improve cooperative operations and extend KDKMP benefits to more communities, the statement said.

The government has completed 15,845 KDKMP facilities as of July, with nationwide operations set to begin in August. The target is 40,000 operational KDKMPs by 2026, positioning the network as a cornerstone of Indonesia’s village-based economic strategy.
