Bus Tourism Tragedy: Deadly Accident on Imam Bonjol Street in Batu, East Java
A devastating bus accident occurred on the descent of Jalan Imam Bonjol in Kota Batu, East Java, on Wednesday (8/1/2025), reportedly due to brake failure. The incident left several vehicles damaged and scattered along the road.
Videos circulating on Wednesday night showed the aftermath of the crash, with multiple vehicles, glass fragments, and vehicle parts scattered across the street. Initial investigation by the Batu Police, confirmed by Radio Suara Surabaya, revealed that the bus lost its brakes on Jalan Imam Bonjol, colliding with several two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles before swerving onto Jalan Pattimura heading towards Malang.
Sadly, the accident resulted in fatalities and several injuries. "Yes, there are both dead and seriously injured, as well as some with minor injuries. Around 10 ambulances were present to transport the victims," said Ipda Germa of the Batu Police to Suara Surabaya.
As of now, police officers are working to clear the accident site and alleviate traffic congestion. "The exact details are still being gathered, as the police are currently assessing the casualties and processing the initial scene of the incident," explained Ipda Gema.
