Serious Head-on Collision on E6 in Olderfjorden, Finnmark: Six Injured

Two cars collided head-on on the E6 highway in Olderfjorden, Finnmark, resulting in a severe traffic accident, according to police reports.

Six victims, two critically injured

Six people were injured in the collision, with two sustaining critical injuries, according to Operations Leader Jan Arne Pettersen from the Finnmark Police District.

Two individuals were airlifted to the hospital by helicopter, while four others were transported by ambulance.

"A gruesome accident," Pettersen described the incident.

Frontal collision on E6

Just before 9 a.m., police received reports of a traffic accident in Olderfjorden, Porsanger. All emergency services rushed to the scene, and a rescue helicopter from the 330 squadron at Banak airport was also deployed.

By 9:30 a.m., Pettersen confirmed that all emergency services had arrived at the scene, stating that it took some time due to the long access road.

Shortly after receiving reports of the accident, police confirmed that at least two people had been injured.

Red Cross helicopter lands in Hammerfest

Around 10 a.m., a rescue helicopter landed at Hammerfest Airport, carrying two injured individuals who were then transported to the hospital.

E6 reopens near the accident scene

At 9:45 a.m., Finnmark Police announced that six injured individuals were being transported to the hospital for medical attention. They also revealed that the collision was a head-on crash.

The accident occurred on the E6 highway’s southern side, near the Olderfjord intersection, heading towards Hatter, according to Pettersen.

Following the accident, the E6 highway was closed at Olderfjord toll booths, as reported by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration at 9 a.m.

No suspicion of drunk driving

By 11 a.m., police completed their investigation into the cause of the accident and found no indication of drunk driving. Instead, police suspect poor winter conditions and driver errors led to the collision.

Both vehicles involved in the accident had Norwegian license plates, and all six injured individuals were admitted to the hospital.
