Devlin Cycles Relocates to Kingston and Expands Mountain Bike Lineup
Devlin Cycles has relocated its headquarters from Maydena to a larger facility in Kingston, Tasmania, to accommodate an expanding manufacturing schedule that includes downhill, cross-country, and electric mountain bike platforms.
The transition follows the development of several new models, including the Cailte DH race platform and the revamped Demon XC. The Kingston workshop provides the necessary floor space to manage ongoing prototype testing and future production runs, according to company disclosures.
Cailte DH Downhill Platform Details and Pricing
The Cailte DH is a race-ready downhill platform utilizing a Horst-link four-bar suspension design with a linkage-driven shock. This layout separates the wheel path, anti-squat, and anti-rise characteristics from shock actuation.
Metal 3D printing is utilized to fabricate complex frame components without the constraints of standard tube shapes and flat plates. The frame geometry features reach measurements in 10mm increments from 415mm to 515mm and beyond, with two stack heights for each size.
Adjustable features include a forward shock mount with three positions to alter the head angle by 0.5 degrees either way from a 63-degree setting, and two mounting positions to adjust progression between 28% and 33%. Modular dropouts allow the rear centre to adjust from 10mm shorter to 20mm longer in 5mm increments.
A photographed green build featuring a 475mm reach, 645mm stack, and 450mm rear centre weighs 19.2kg (42.2lb). The frame includes ISCG5 tabs, a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), and a Devlin Universal Brake Mount (UBM) for 200mm or 220mm rotors.
The Cailte DH is available to order as a frameset with a Fox DHX2 shock for AUD $7,900. Complete builds are priced according to final component specifications.
Custom Demon XC frame weighs under three kilograms
The revamped Demon XC uses a flex stay layout and provides 120mm of travel front and rear. A Columbus tube set keeps the bare frame weight under 3kg with the shock and pivot hardware installed.
A representative build featuring Shimano XT wheels, Pirelli Scorpion Trail tyres, a Shimano XT Di2 drivetrain, Fox 34 SL forks, a Float SL 190 x 45 shock, and a Fox Transfer dropper post weighs 12.95kg (28.5lb). Alternative component selections can reduce the build weight below 12kg.
The Demon XC includes an IS42/IS52 headset standard, internal cable routing, a BSA73 threaded bottom bracket shell, a Universal Derailleur Hanger, a Devlin Universal Brake Mount, and a hollow stainless-steel 3D-printed swing link. It uses a 30.9mm seat post diameter and accommodates either a dropper or fixed post.
The Demon XC is available as a frame and shock package for AUD $6,900.
Devlin Cycles launches two electric mountain bike platforms
Devlin Cycles is expanding into electric mountain bikes with two platforms: the Fionn e-Trail and the Torin e-DH. Both models use the Maxon Air S drive system, which produces 90Nm of torque and up to 620W peak power from a 600Wh internal battery.
The Maxon motor weighs 2kg, and the battery weighs 2.8kg. The Fionn e-Trail utilizes heat-treated 316 and 17-4 stainless-steel 3D-printed sections to internally integrate the motor and battery within a steel frame. A prototype build featuring a Fox 38 fork, XT Di2 drivetrain and brakes, and Pirelli Scorpion tyres weighed 18.4kg in a motor-delete configuration.
Devlin targets a fully equipped weight of approximately 23kg for the Fionn. The geometry borrows from the Jester model with customized travel options ranging from 130mm to 160mm. Order availability for the Fionn is anticipated in early 2027.
The Torin e-DH adapts the Cailte DH geometry and suspension layout for self-shuttling and bike-park use. It features 200mm of front and rear travel, a 250 x 75 Fox DHX2 shock, the Maxon Air S system, UDH, and UBM. Estimated weight ranges from 25kg to 25.5kg. A full-function prototype is planned for 2027.
