Title: Fatal Head-On Collision in Chaco: Driver Dies as Car Catches Fire
Article:
A tragic incident occurred early Sunday morning on Route National Nº 16, approximately 151 kilometers from the Chaco town of Colonia Aborigen. A man, Ángel Mauricio González (34), from the nearby locality of Presidencia de la Plaza, lost his life when his Renault Logan collided head-on with a loaded banana truck driven by Nelson Salívar Caballero (32), a Paraguayan resident.
The gripping scene was discovered by police responding to a 911 call. González’s car was completely destroyed and engulfed by flames on the asphalt, while Caballero’s Scania truck lay overturned on the roadside. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, González succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The truck driver, Nelson Salívar Caballero, was fortunately less injured and received medical attention by a nurse from a nearby hospital before being taken to a medical facility for further assessment.
Authorities, including the Chief of the Chaco Police, Adolfo Treppo, and the head of the Caminera police force, Luis Rafael Gómez, investigated the scene. The Fiscal in Charge, Gustavo Valero, ordered that the Gabinete Científico perform an analysis of the accident, assisted by firefighters from Presidencia de la Plaza and Quitilipi.
The collision left the route completely blocked for several hours before traffic was gradually restored.
This unfortunate event serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and the devastating consequences of such accidents. As investigations continue, our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Ángel Mauricio González.
