International Swimming Tournament Concludes in Kattappana; European and Canadian Athletes Participate

KATTAPPANA: The curtain fell on an international swimming tournament held at the Osanam Swimming Academy, with the event witnessing participation from athletes across six countries and various age groups. The tournament, inaugurated by city Mayor Beena Thomas, saw the participation of elite swimmers from Spain, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, and local talent from the region.

Age categories ranged from 14 years and under to 22 years and above, encouraging participation across a wide spectrum. In the adult categories, winners took home cash awards of INR 10,000, INR 5,000, and INR 3,000 for the first, second, and third positions respectively. Younger athletes, under the age of 14, received cash awards of INR 5,000, INR 3,000, and INR 2,000, along with certificates of participation.

Father Jose Matthews, the school manager, presided over the event in PapAlignady. The tournament served as an excellent platform for international sporting exchange and provided an opportunity for the local talent to measure their skills against global competitors.
