Surabaya, IDN Times – A series of crashes on Jalan Kenjeran on Tuesday (23/12/2024) has left multiple vehicles damaged and several people injured. The primary suspect, Septian Uki Wijaya, a 38-year-old resident of Lebak Arum, Surabaya, admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz.
Septian was apprehended by local residents at the scene of the accident and later underwent questioning by security personnel. He confessed to consuming two bottles of beer prior to the incident. "I was drunk, I drank two bottles," Septian admitted.
In a display of remorse, Septian expressed regret for his actions, stating, "I’m sorry, I made a mistake. I’m willing to take full responsibility for my actions."
Septian was subsequently transferred to the Surabaya Metro Police Station and underwent a breathalyzer test. The results showed a blood alcohol content of 0.77 mg/liter, a level considered dangerously high. A levels of 0.8 mg/liter or above can lead to a loss of consciousness and impaired judgment.
