In a tragic incident that occurred on New Year’s Day, a family of four lost their lives after being struck by a car in Pekanbaru, Riau. The victims, identified as Anton Sujarwo (30), his wife Afrianti (42), and their children Aditia Aprilio Anjani (10), were struck by a Toyota Calya driven by Antoni Romansyah (44). Romansyah, who was reportedly under the influence of narcotics, fled the scene but was later arrested by police.

The devastating news has left behind a grieving family and community. The victims’ bodies were later buried in a joint ceremony at the Public Cemetery (TPU) Tampan in Pekanbaru. Their absence has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew them.

“I cannot believe my brother, his wife, and their child are no longer with us,” said Marsono, a relative of the victims. “They were on their way to visit family when this tragedy occurred.”

Investigations are ongoing, and Romansyah is expected to face charges for vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that’s arises when individuals drive under the influence, not only putting their own lives at risk but the lives of innocent bystanders as well.
