Mild Earthquake Rattles Momin Proход, 25 Kilometers from Samokov

A magnitude 2.8 earthquake struck near the town of Momin Proход today at 19:35 local time, according to the National Seismological Center at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAN). The tremors were felt 25 kilometers from Samokov and around 65 kilometers from the capital, Sofia. The earthquake’s depth was recorded at 12 kilometers.

While the earthquake was relatively mild, it serves as a reminder of Bulgaria‘s seismic activity.
