CARACAS, Venezuela — Opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia announced on Twitter Tuesday that his yerno, Rafael Tudares, was kidnapped in Caracas this morning while taking his 6 and 7-year-old children to school. Tudares, who is married to González Urrutia’s daughter, was intercepted by armed men in a dorado colored truck with license plate AA54E2C, according to the opposition leader.
"This morning, my yerno Rafael Tudares was kidnapped," González Urrutia wrote on Twitter. "He was taking my grandchildren to school when he was intercepted by masked men dressed in black, who put him in a dorado-colored truck with license plate AA54E2C."
Tudares, who was taken in front of his young children, is currently nowhere to be found.
González Urrutia, who claims to have won the controversial July presidential elections, has been in self-imposed exile in Spain since September, citing politically motivated persecution and judicial harassment. The Venezuelan government has issued an arrest warrant for him and offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
