Egonu and Milano face Scandicci in Serie A1 women’s volleyball round 7

The seventh round of the Serie A1 women’s volleyball championship opens on November 7, as the undefeated Numia Vero Volley Milano travels to Tuscany to face Savino Del Bene Scandicci at the Pala BigMat in Florence, with live broadcast on Rai Sport and DAZN.

Scandicci Hosts Milano in Florence

The match pits top-of-the-table Milano against fifth-place Scandicci in an early-season test that historically signals championship contenders. Milano enters the fixture sharing the top of the standings with Prosecco Doc A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano at 18 points, while Scandicci holds 13 points following four wins and two losses.

Pro tip: Watch the battle at the service line. Scandicci’s Kiera Van Ryk leads the Serie A1 with 14 aces, while Milano’s defense faces a stern test against the league’s top-scoring opposite.

Van Ryk and Egonu battle for scoring lead

Individual matchups dictate much of the offensive pressure in Florence. Scandicci relies on Canadian opposite Kiera Van Ryk, who sits second in the league scoring race with 128 points, just behind Milano opposite Paola Egonu, who leads with 135 points. In forty historical encounters between the two clubs, Milano holds 23 victories to Scandicci’s 17.

At the center of the net, Milano’s Anna Danesi and Scandicci’s Maja Aleksic contest the top blockers classification. Danesi has recorded 26 monster blocks this season, one more than her Serbian counterpart.

“Sabato mi aspetto una grande sfida, come lo è da anni contro una bella squadra come Scandicci,” Danesi said.

Opposing coach Marco Gaspari leads Scandicci against his former club, having managed Milano between 2020 and 2024.

“Giochiamo contro un avversario che ha iniziato la stagione in maniera incredibile,” Gaspari stated.

Chieri and Vallefoglia Fight for Third Place

While Milano and Conegliano set the pace at 18 points, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri and Megabox Ondulati del Savio Vallefoglia meet at the PalaFenera to defend joint ownership of third place at 14 points. Both teams carry records of five wins and one loss, with their only defeats coming against Conegliano.

Vallefoglia coach Andrea Pistola points to the calendar as a measuring stick for his squad’s growth.

“Dobbiamo dimostrare di aver imparato la lezione di Conegliano,” Pistola said. “Adesso arriveranno 5 o 6 partite contro avversarie di ótimo livello e saranno quelle a dirci realmente dove possiamo arrivare.”

Chieri features a fast-paced system under coach Nicola Negro, keeping a roster that changed little from the previous campaign.
