Title: Norwegians Wake Up to Heavy Snowfall and Chaos, Worst Yet to Come

Norwegians woke up to a blanket of snow and significant disruptions in public transportation, with many roads closed or blocked due to heavy snowfall and strong winds on Monday. And it’s set to get worse, according to Meteorologist Eli Kari Gjengedal of TV2.

"We’ve issued warnings for heavy snowfall, and yesterday we mentioned that we could see up to 40 cm in some areas within the next 24 hours," Gjengedal told Dagbladet. "And it’s going to be even worse tomorrow, with more snow on the way."

In some parts of southern Norway, up to 50 cm of snow is expected within 24 hours, with the worst conditions in the east, reaching as far as Vestfold, Telemark, and Buskerud. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued an orange alert for heavy snowfall in these areas.

Tips for Dealing with Snow Chaos
Gjengedal offered some practical advice for dealing with the snow chaos, "If your car gets stuck, you can put the mats from your car underneath the wheels to give you some traction, or you could buy some cat litter."

Stay Informed and Safe
The Consumer Council of Norway advises travelers to stay informed about the weather and road conditions, and to have a backup plan. If you’re caught in a snowstorm, don’t hesitate to contact your transport provider for information, assistance, or a refund.

Remember: After the Storm, Spring Will Come
While Monday and Tuesday are expected to be challenging due to heavy snow and strong winds, Gjengedal offers a glimmer of hope: "We’re heading towards milder temperatures, but from Wednesday, it will get colder again. Then the snow will clear, and we’ll have that ‘winter wonderland’ feeling again."
