F.P. Journe and H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco have announced the creation of the one-off Chronographe Fondation Prince Albert II De Monaco for the monarch’s upcoming charity auction. Phillips will manage the auction on November 25, 2026 at Raffles Sentosa Singapore, with every cent raised going directly to support the Foundation.
Auction Details and Previous Charity Precedents
Stylistically, the watch follows F.P. Journe’s trio of earlier pieces for the Foundation: the Chronographe Rattrapante from 2018, the 2022 Chronomètre Optimum, and the Chronomètre à Résonance of 2024. The latter hammered for US$2.98 million, setting a lofty precedent. While a comparable Chronographe FB was priced at CHF90,000 in 2024, that comparison serves only as a theoretical benchmark; because philanthropy and one-off exclusivity drive the outcome, the Resonance sale proves that both factors can easily eclipse traditional pricing metrics.

Design Evolution and Burgundy-and-Bone Livery
Carrying on the aesthetic framework of the foundation’s previous two pieces with its burgundy lacquered face, the watch features numerals modeled after oracle bones, which represent China’s earliest known writing system. Here the typography extends across an unusually dense display, giving the watch a deliberately graphic feel.
Drawing inspiration from François-Paul Journe’s inaugural tourbillon pocket watch, the mixed-metal case pairs platinum with 18k rose gold, though it reverses the layout by featuring white metal on the front and rear bezels while the central case is crafted from rose gold. Inside is the hand-wound cal. 1518.3, a slight evolution of the cal. 1518.2 developed for the Chronographe FB. Removing the flyback makes this F.P. Journe’s first conventional chronograph built on this platform, enhancing the uniqueness of the watch.
