Farewell to Deepak Babu: UK Malayalis Bid Emotional Goodbye, Body Arrives in Kollam Tomorrow

Deepak Babu’s mortal remains to be brought home

Nottingham: The mortal remains of Deepak Babu, a 40-year-old Malayali who passed away in the UK, will be brought to his hometown in Kerala this month. Deepak, a resident of Manganad in Kollam, died of a heart attack in Nottingham on Christmas Day.

Deepak, who was working in the UK, was the treasurer of the Nottingham Mudra Arts Association and a member of the Service UK organization. He was the son of G. Babu and K. Jalaj and the husband of Neethu. The couple has an 8-year-old son, Kesav.

Before his mortal remains are brought to Kerala, a public viewing will be held at the Gedling Crematorium in Nottingham from 3 pm to 5 pm today. After the public viewing, Deepak’s body will be taken to his hometown in Kerala, where he will be cremated according to Hindu rituals.

In the wake of Deepak’s untimely death, the UK Malayali community has come together to support his family. The UK Malayali Charity Foundation, in collaboration with Mudra Arts, Nottingham Malayali Cultural Association, and Service UK, has raised a record £27,368 for Deepak’s family. The foundation has assured that the GoFundMe platform fee will be covered, and they extend their gratitude to all those who contributed.

Deepak’s wife and son, along with their close friend Mohammad Hilani, returned to Kerala on January 1. The community has expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
