Title: Tragic Traffic Accident in Buenos Aires: Actress Patricia Scheuer Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run

In a tragic turn of events on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, several traffic accidents occurred in the city of Buenos Aires, with one incident proving fatal in the upscale Recoleta neighborhood. A woman, later identified as Patricia Scheuer, lost control of her Nissan Kicks, mounting the sidewalk and running over a couple from Brazil who were waiting at a traffic light on Avenida del Libertador and Alvear. The man died instantly, while his companion was critically injured and remains hospitalized at Hospital Rivadavia, where she’s undergoing scans for head trauma.

Scheuer, an actress and renowned gastronomic entrepreneur, was reportedly uninjured and able to exit her vehicle on her own. She allegedly requested a breathalyzer test from the responding police officers, which returned a negative result for alcohol consumption. However, she was later detained at Comisaría 15 in the Chacarita neighborhood and is expected to be questioned by the prosecutor’s office on Thursday.

The deceased Brazilian national has been identified as a 60-year-old man. The incident has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences from both the Argentine and Brazilian communities, with many paying their respects to the couple and expressing their solidarity with the victim’s family.

Earlier in the day, another vehicular incident occurred in the San Cristóbal neighborhood. A man fell asleep at the wheel, causing a chain reaction collision involving two parked vehicles on the corner of Pichincha 1100 and Humberto 1° street. Fortunately, the driver and his passenger suffered no injuries, thanks to the deployment of the airbags.

Patricia Scheuer has been making headlines throughout the day following the fatal accident. She began her career in the Performing Arts with a strong foundation in music and theatre, studying under renowned musician Jorge Calandrelli, among others. She gained prominence on Argentine television, often cast as a villain in various soap operas. She notably starred in an iconic ad for a washing machine brand, highlighting her dynamic range as an actress.

Scheuer later combined her passion for food with entrepreneurship, co-founding several successful restaurants and becoming a prominent figure in the Argentine gastronomy scene. In an interview with La Nación in 2018, she attributed her holistic approach to gastronomy to her theatre background, emphasizing the importance of engaging all the senses to create memorable dining experiences.

Scheuer’s personal life is also deeply tied to her love for cooking. Married to a man of Italian descent, she champions the art of home-cooked meals, drawing inspiration from her family’s agricultural roots.

The incident remains under investigation, with the courts assigning the case to Judge Martín López Benítez, who will determine the appropriate charges based on the evidence presented.
