Man Dies by Drowning in Vicente López River; Daughter Hospitalized
A man in his 40s drowned on Sunday while swimming in the Costanera of the Río de la Plata in Vicente López, a Buenos Aires suburb. His daughter, approximately 14 years old, entered the water to save him and had to be hospitalized.
Authorities confirmed that the victim ignored the prohibition on swimming in the Río de la Plata in that area. The teenager was rescued and transported to the Hospital Houssay, where she was stabilized, before being moved to the municipality of San Fernando. Emergency services including the SAME, Defense Civil, and the Police Scientific Unit were present at the scene.

Locals who witnessed the incident described the scene. Kevin, one of the bystanders who assisted the victims, told Buena Semana on TN that he heard cries for help and saw a woman who appeared to be the mother of the adolescent asking for assistance. He rescued the girl from the water and administered CPR when she surfaced, with some water coming out.
Kevin also saw the man floating in the water but did not attempt CPR due to his appearance, stating that he was bloated and had his eyes rolled back, indicating that he was likely deceased. Unfortunately, efforts to rescue the man were unsuccessful.
This is not the first time Kevin has had to save someone at the Vicente López Costanera. Last Sunday, he assisted an elderly woman who had fallen into a pit.
