Bulgaria was shaken by a series of earthquakes, with one resulting in a vehicle accident and leaving a trail of minor damage across the country. The magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck near the "Тракия" motorway, causing a car to overturn in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia.

The earthquake, which occurred at around 2 PM local time, was felt in various regions, including Sofia, Varna, Burgas, and the mountain town of Samokov. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, the tremors were measured at 2.8 on the Richter scale in Samokov.

Initial reports indicate minimal damage, with no serious injuries reported. The epicenter of the earthquake was near the village of Dabovo, southwest of Sofia. The tremors were followed by aftershocks, with at least two felt in the subsequent hours.

In response to the earthquake, local authorities activated emergency plans and deployed rescue teams. Theyse searched the affected areas for any sign of injury or damage, ensuring the safety of residents. The motorway was temporarily closed for inspection, though traffic was quickly rerouted and resumed.

This series of earthquakes serves as a reminder of Bulgaria’s seismic activity and the importance of preparedness. Emergency services urge residents to familiarize themselves with emergency procedures and maintain safety supplies at home. Despite the damage and disruption caused, the quick response of emergency services and the resilience of the Bulgarian people has minimized the impact of these tremors.
