Fiņķis Releases Debut Album Lead Single Nokavējis

Rapper and songwriter Fiņķis, alongside singer Julianna, has released the new single “Nokavējis,” lasi.lv reported. The track serves as the first single from Fiņķis’s upcoming album, titled “Atpūtas un izklaides komplekss,” which is scheduled for release in 2027.

Creation of Nokavējis With Synthesizers

The new single was produced in collaboration with Andis Ansons and Fiņķis’s bandmate Kristaps Ērglis. The creative process involved borrowing a piece of hardware, as Fiņķis explained to the publication.

“With Andis, we had borrowed the legendary Suzuki Omnichord synthesizer, one of whose presets forms the basis of the Gorillaz song ‘Clint Eastwood,'” Fiņķis said. “Inspired by this synthesizer and various stories, we started working on a new song.”

“The outro of the song is a phone recording from 2026 rehearsals,” Fiņķis added. “It turned out so good that we left it exactly as it is.”

Connection to Valmiera Theatre and Zakopane

“Nokavējis” functions as part of the soundscape for the Valmiera Theatre production “Egomaniaki,” with Fiņķis drawing direct inspiration for the lyrics from the theatrical performance itself.

The official recording sessions unfolded during a creative camp in Zakopane, Poland, as well as at Mute Studio in Riga and Alejas Studio in Cēsis.

Upcoming Releases and Musical Background

Fiņķis has scheduled the release of his next single, “Finansiālā Distonija,” for November 16, followed by further surprises for fans on December 4.

Fiņķis has established himself as a prominent figure in contemporary Latvian hip-hop, known for blending electronic music experiments with hip-hop elements from various eras and the playfulness of Vestiena. His catalog includes widely recognized hits such as “Raķešu zinātne” and “Baudam!”
