Fire Safety Measures for Electric Vehicles Parked Under Residential Buildings in Orkanger

Breaking: Emergency Services Contain Fire in Apartment Building, Orkland

A major fire has been contained in an apartment building in Orkland, with emergency services working diligently to control the blaze and ensure the safety of residents. The incident was first reported around 7:00 PM, with the fire occurring in the underground parking lot and spreading to an adjacent vehicle.

Operations leader Øystein Sandhals Volden from the Trøndelag Police District confirmed that the fire was under control by 9:23 PM. Evacuations are underway, with the municipality setting up an evacuation center at Bårdshaug Herregård hotel.

Challenges in Controlling the Fire

Firefighters faced several challenges in battling the blaze, primarily due to the vehicle involved being an electric car. Øystein Sandhals Volden stated, "It’s a challenge because we’re dealing with an electric vehicle, and there are obstacles to accessing the fire."

With 53 residents registered in the building, not all were present due to New Year’s celebrations. As of 8:51 PM, police had made physical contact with 25 residents. All apartments have been checked, and authorities have been in touch with residents who were not at home.

Residents reported significant smoke in the area. The Orkland municipality has been contacted and is providing support to those affected.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
