Meanwhile, emergency departments grappled with a barrage of alcohol-related cases, particularly among young adults. According to De Gelderlander, drunken and disorderly partygoers contributed significantly to the heavy workload faced by ambulance services during the night. This trend was echoed across the nation, with numerous reports of young drinkers flooding hospitals on New Year’s Day.
