Two lives were lost and five individuals were injured in a severe head-on collision on the Plovdiv-Karlovo highway near the turnoff for Kaloyanovo. The accident occurred around 12:00 pm, with two vehicles involved in the crash.
Emergency services, police, and firefighters rushed to the scene. Tragically, both individuals who lost their lives perished at the scene. Their identities are yet to be confirmed, but they were traveling in one of the vehicles. Four young adults were traveling in the other car, and all were transported to the hospital. The driver, a 19-year-old, tested negative for alcohol, police confirmed.
The University Hospital "Saint Georgi" in Plovdiv received the injured individuals, but they initially reported receiving five patients, contrary to the police’s earlier statement of four. The current condition of the injured is yet unknown.
The collision caused temporary disruption of traffic on the main road, but it has since been restored.
