Foo Fighters’ ‘Baker Street’ Cover Resurfaces After Decades

Foo Fighters’ 1997 cover of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” has reemerged as the band performed the song during a four-night residency on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, according to loudersound.com. The track, originally recorded for BBC Radio One’s Evening Session in April 1997, had previously appeared on limited-edition releases and compilations but remained absent from major streaming platforms due to licensing constraints.

Baker Street Appeared on Limited Physical Releases

The Foo Fighters’ version of “Baker Street” was first released in November 1997 on a limited-edition EP accompanying their album The Colour And The Shape, alongside covers of songs by Killing Joke, Prince, and Gary Numan. It reappeared on select versions of the “My Hero” single in 1998 and the 2010 Record Store Day compilation Medium Rare. A 10th-anniversary edition of The Colour And The Shape in 2007 also included the track, but it has been largely excluded from Spotify and other streaming services.
